Pridex, one of the Russian fit-out market leaders, analyzed the price growth dynamics for imported sanitaryware products in February-April 2021 and 2022. As part of the study, all products were divided into two segments — "premium", which mainly represents European brands, and "economy", which includes manufacturers from China, Turkey, India, etc.
Faucets, sinks, lavatories and installations of the economy class have risen in price by 20−70%, depending on the manufacturer — for the same period last year, this figure did not exceed 20%. According to Pridex Commercial Director Alexander Aleynikov, Chinese and Turkish suppliers are actively taking advantage of the increased demand situation associated with the exit of European brands and raise the cost of their products.
Shower cabins, bathrooms and accessories for them, as well as shower equipment of the economy segment have risen in price by 30−70%. Over the same period last year, the price increase most affected shower equipment, however, it did not exceed 20% (while baths in 2021 rose in price by only 5−7%). The dynamics of the cost in the premium segment ranged from 10% to 25%; baths were the least affected by the current situation — in 2021, the percentage of their appreciation reached 20%.
Accessories for bathrooms (dosers, dispensers, holders, etc.) have risen in price by up to 40% in the economy segment (up to 15% in 2021), and up to 20% in the premium segment (up to 10% in 2021).
"Despite the V-shaped recovery of rouble exchange-value, the reduction in supply, the complication of logistics chains and the rise in the cost of raw materials remain important factors affecting the cost of the final product. At the same time, such a large difference in price growth depending on the manufacturer indicates the instability of the sanitary ware market as a whole, which makes it possible to largely offset the consequences of price increases while working competently with suppliers and quickly adapting to changing conditions."
